Rovaniemi
First Lapland trips and Santa experiencesThe official hometown of Santa Claus combines Arctic Circle attractions with a working city, restaurants and straightforward airport transfers. It can suit short family breaks where organised experiences matter more than skiing.
Levi
Skiing and an easy resort centreLevi has downhill skiing, winter activities and a compact village with shops and restaurants. Accommodation ranges from hotels near the centre to cabins that may require transfers or a hire car.
Ylläs
Cabins, trails and quieter sceneryYlläs is spread around Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi. It feels less urban than Rovaniemi and suits travellers prioritising snow, nature and cabin stays, but location and transport need closer checking.
Saariselkä
Far-north landscapes and aurora tripsSaariselkä sits well inside the Arctic Circle and offers a small resort base, winter excursions and access through Ivalo airport. Daylight is very limited around midwinter, which changes the rhythm of the trip.

- Whether direct UK flights, checked luggage and airport transfers are included.
- Exactly which Santa, husky, reindeer, snowmobile or northern-lights activities form part of the package.
- Thermal clothing provision, age limits and the duration of outdoor experiences.
- Cabin distance from the resort centre, supermarkets and activity meeting points.
- Daylight hours, likely temperatures and the fact that snow or aurora sightings cannot be guaranteed.
- Deposit, cancellation terms and the complete family price rather than the headline per-person figure.
